Time for Amharas and Patriotic Ethiopians to Unite and come to the Rescue of Amharas and Our Beloved Ethiopia !

Ever since TPLF/EPRDF took over power in Ethiopia, they have been targeting members of the Amhara ethnic group for total extermination. Under the regime, led by the late Meles Zenawi, and now by his cronies, Amharas have been subjected to genocide, murder, torture, incarceration, forced exile in their own country, and any gross human rights violation one can imagine. The regime has also managed to breed extreme groups of other ethnic groups, especially of Oromo ethnic group, to target Amharas for horrific murders in various places and settings. Recently, Amharas in Wellega province of Oromia state were attacked by misguided, and murderous Oromo extremists and government agents. One elderly Amhara man was brutally murdered, and many others were critically wounded. Personal properties and businesses owned by Amhara individuals were burned to the ground and damaged by extreme Oromos and government agents. But, the question is, how long are Amhara scholars and Ethiopians of Amhara decent and pro-unity Ethiopians, going to stand by and let their people perish in the hands of the racist regime and Oromo extremists the regime supports ?
It is time that Amharas put their generations long differences aside and unite to protect themselves from total distraction by the regime in Ethiopia, and by extremist Oromo groups. Amharas have to leave behind their long held self pride about their particular sect or province. Gojjames, Shewas, Woloyes, and Gonderes have to come to the realization that they are identical in fundamental aspects, and only have very minor differences. They all speak Amharic; they all eat the same food; they all dress alike; and they all have quite similar cultures and traditions. Then what is the difference between them ?
My father is from Gojjam. My mother is from Addis Ababa, but her father is from Ambo, Oromia, and her mother is from Menz, Showa. I regard myself as an Amhara because my father is an Amhara, and my mother is half Amhara. That is the case with many Amharas and Oromos. They are interrelated than any other ethnic group in Ethiopia. I grew up learning the history and culture of Gojjam. I was told that Gojjam is what made the Amhara ethic group stand out in Ethiopia. According to what I know, Gojjam is the land of patriots, the rich, the genius, and the hard workers and farmers. I grew up believing that Gojjam is perfect. No traitor would come out of Gojjam. In contrast, I was told nothing but bad things about other Amharas. Gonderes are self glorifying ( Guregnoch ), lazy, poor, and not truly Amharas, since many of them speak fluent Tigrigna, and since too many Tigrayans live in Gonder. I was told Woleyes are not trust worthy, traitors, and back stabbing. And I was told that Shewas think they are the purest Amharas since King Minilik was from there. According to what I learned, Showas are shrewd and snake in the grass. But as I grew older and became self conscious, I began to realize that they are all stereotypes that Amharas hold against each other, making them easy preys for predators like TPLF/EPRDF, EPLF, OLF, and others.
Anti-Ethiopia groups that target Amharas in various places in Ethiopia do not discriminate as to which Amhara (the Gojjame, Gondere, Wollo, or Showa) they should brutalize. They just target us all as Amharas, those that speak Amharic and belong to Ethiopian Orthodox Church. Ethiopia's enemies in the west have long identified Amharas and the Orthodox church as the driving forces behind Ethiopia's unity and survival for thousands of years. Amharas and the Ethiopian Orthodox church have been blamed for mobilizing all Ethiopians and leading them in numerous wars, in which outside invaders were shamefully defeated and repelled, the 1889 and 1940s victories against Italy being the most notable. Others such as the Egyptians and Turkish have also been dealt with by the brave Ethiopian people. Therefore, to avenge their long held shame and bitterness against Ethiopia, Western powers are using domestic enemies like TPLF/EPRDF and OLF to EXCUTE their plan of weakening and ultimately exterminating Amharas, as well as destroying the Ethiopian Orthodox church. Some of the leaders of the anti-Ethiopia/ Amhara groups are the late Meles Zenawi, Bereket Simeon Dr. Birhanu Nega, Dr. Merera Gudina, Lencho Leta, Johar Mohamoud, Tesfaye Gebreab, Dr. Beyene Petros, Siye Abraha, and many others.
Finally, I call on Amharas, patriotic Ethiopians, and friends of Ethiopia to stand together and fight the hateful regime in Ethiopia. I especially urge Amharas to rally around groups and individuals that are forces of unity and Ethiopian nationality. Amharas need to rally around Moresh Wogene, and the All Ethiopian Unity Party ( AEUP ). AEUP is a nationalist party, with the interests of Ethiopian people at heart, that comes to the rescue of Amharas and other targeted individuals and ethnic groups in Ethiopia. It is a long established party, with offices in all corners of Ethiopia, except in Gambela and Ogaden, for security reasons. Moresh Wogene is a civic group led by the patriotic Ato. Tekle Yishaw, who has been standing up to Amhara haters and murderers by arguing against their false propagandas against Amharas, and by exposing the truth. Those that love Ethiopia and feel for the suffering of innocent Amharas should become action oriented, if they want to come to the rescue of their people and country. Amharas need to look out for each other, instead of attack each other. And Ethiopians in general, no matter their ethnicity, need to unity against dividing forces like TPLF/EPRDF. Ethiopians also have to realize that attacking Amharas, and Ethiopian Orthodox Church, as well as Ethiopian flag is attacking Ethiopia. The only way to counter divisive forces is by uniting against them ! Long Live Ethiopia ! We will Prevail !

TPLF and their hatred for Amhara people Part II.

The brutal regime in Ethiopia has recently been engaged in ethnic cleansing of the Amhara ethnics by forcibly deporting them from the Benishangul Gumz province, where they have been living for decades. The regime has not provided any explanation as to why they are being displaced, except for the obvious fact that they are guilty of being Amharas, the main targets of the regime's genocidal and divisive campaign to weaken, if not exterminate, the entire ethnic group, and ultimately undo Ethiopian society that our fathers and forfathers had worked very hard to bring together and protect from former imperial powers that had sought to impliment the policies the regime in Ethiopia, lead by the " Tigrayan People Libration Front", is implimenting. The same ethnic cleaning that is being done in Ethiopia is the kind of which that former colonial powers had emposed throughout Africa, which led to the deaths of millions of people in the continent. The genocide in Rwanda in the early 90s is the direct result of colonial rule. According to a former prosecuter at the trial of the perpetrators of the Rwandan genocide in Tansania, and reknown Ethiopian scholar Dr. Yacob Hailemariam, " the ongoing crime in Ethiopia is not a ' genocide', but ethnic cleansing of the Amhara ethnic group." His statement is supported by an article posted on Ethiomedia.com, that states, " scholars generally agree and define ethnic cleansing as the 'systematic and violent removal of undesired ethnic groups from a given territory.'" As witnressed in the past, ethnic cleansing is a pretext to commit genocide. The hutu led government in Rwanda first employed ethnic cleansing by way of issuing ID cards with ethnic identities and separating tutsi children and adults alike in schools and other institutions throughout the country before unleashing its murderous millitia and government soldiers on them.  It is worth noting that an actual genoide as defined by Dr. Yacob and other scholars had been commited on Amhara people in Harar, Wolega, and Jima provinces, not to mention isolated "indicents" in isolated areas where Amharas have been found. Here, I would like to note that crime of genocide by the TPLF/EPRDF ethnic based regime have been committed on other ' undesired ' ethnic groups throughout the country as well. In 2003, a militia of rival ethnic group along with soldiers attacted a village in Gambella and killed more than 400 people with in three weeks. Even more Amharas had been thrown alive to their death in deep holes in Harar, massacred with machine guns and heave weapons in Wolega, hacked to death in machete in Kaffa among other places prior to, and after the genocide against Agnwaks in Gambella. Prof. Yacob Hailemariam, speaking about the Amhara ethnic cleansing, broadly explain " such criminal activites against a group of people in Ethiopia, whether it is perpetrated by local officials or not, all those who are involved could, and will be put to trial, including officials at the federal level, who have the authority to reverse any ethnic cleansing or forced relocations by local officials." Not even a year ago, the regime forcibly deported Amharas from the district of Gura Ferda, located in southern Ethiopia. The victims had their belongings illegally confiscated, beaten, detained, and even killed by the regimes Armed cadres and police before being sent off to their " land of origin", Amhara province, where they belong. The TPLF/EPRDF regime in Ethiopia is committing ethnic cleansing and genocide, among other human rights violations in Ethiopia without any effort from the international community to halt the regime's campaign. The international community is known to have no again after the genocide in Rwanda. However, genocides of the same kind have been committed in Darfur that killed more than a million people before the world community decided to react against it. May be they are waiting for millions to die in Ethiopia to get the community into action. Hundreds of thousands of Amharas have been subjected to extermination since " Tigray People Libration Front" took power 22 years ago. What are Ethiopians and the international community going to do to put an end to the ever increasing genocidal campaign by the regime in Ethiopia ? What is being done to rid Ethiopia of these criminals and bring everyone of them to justice ? What is going to take fo ICC to lanuch investigation and indict those are directly and indirectly responsible for ethnic cleansing and genocide in Ethiopia ? Now is the time for all Ethiopians and the international community alike to act swiftly to end the brutal regime of the late dictator Meles Zenawi and his TPLF/EPRDF party, and bring about freedom and democracy in Ethiopia that would enable Ethiopians to freely live in their own country without being targeted for discrimination and genocide by their own rulers.

TPLF and their hatred for Amhara people.

Ever since TPLF took power, they have targeting people of Amhara origin in their campaign of ethnic cleansing. They have displaced, tortured, and brutally killed Amharas any way they could and continue to do so. The most notable being the Bedeno genocide, where they threw men, women, and children of Amhara ethnic group down a shallow hole while alive. They have also targeted Amharas in Wollega, Awasa, Jima, and also in all remote places in the country where Amharas reside. Nowadays, being from the Amhara ethnic group is being portraid as a crime by the TPLF propaganda machine. It is indeed a crime to be an Amhara as long as TPLF is in power for they would treat anyone who is found to be an Amhara falls with in the regimes radar for possible mistreatment in the hands of the regimes hirarchy. Just this week, DW radio and other media outlets reported the TPLF regime forcefully displaced over twenty thousand Amharas from a place in southern Ethiopia called Bench Maji Zone. Their only crime was being an Amhara. They have been told that they didn't belong in that area because they are not from the native ethnic group that traditionally inhabited the area and that they aught to go back to the designated area the TPLF regime called Amara Kilil aka Kilil 3 as it diveded Ethiopian by ethnic lines. As an amhara, I feel deep bitterness against Tigrayans, and evil thoughts cross my mind everytime I hear about the brutal campaign TPLF is waging against my people simply because TPLF came from the Tigrayan people. But I do my best to held my self back and avoid evil thought against Tigrayans because I know there are Tigrayans out there who fiercely oppose the crimes the TPLF regime keeps to commit against people of other ethnic groups; Amharas in particular. Tigrayans like Getachew Reda, who I see as my hero, and one of the few Ethiopian nationalists who are fighting the brutal, and racist regime that has marginalized Tigrayans from the rest of Ethiopian people, and possibly set them up for future retaliation in the hands of the oppressed, are who inspire me to refute such thoughts from taking control of me. The TPLF regime has been working day and night to divide Ethiopian people by ethnicity, color, religion, and terf since before they set foot in Minilik Palace, thanks in all part to Col. Mengistu Hailemariam who single handedly crippled his own regime and opened the door for them by riding Ethiopia of bright generation of students and military leaders alike who could have succeeded in dismantling the EPLF and TPLF bandits even before they crossed the Mereb river. Up on toppling the brutal DERG regime, TPLF bandits and their accompaning OLF/ Interhamwe militias couldn't wait to take action against an ethnic group they deeply dispised for crimes they alleged it had commited agains the people they claim to represent since the Milik regime or before, none of which is yet to be supported by evidence. They co-ordinated the infamous campaign in Bedeno and Arba Gugu where, like i stated above, they forcefully pushed Amharas into shallow holes and displaced their relatives who managed to escape in campaign. Ethiopia is in such a dire state. Never before there has been a regime in Ethiopia that intentionally gave away its territory and harbor without the people's concent. Never before, there has been a regime in Ethiopia that divided the nation by ethnic lines. Never before, there has been a regime in Ethiopia that gave away pieces of the nations territories to neigboring countries as if it is a piece of Ambasha/ bread it wants to share. Never before, there has been a regime in Ethiopia that targeted other ethnic groups for genocide. Never before, there has been a regime that claimed to have represented a single ethnic group in the country. That is why the only way Ethiopians can live in their own country without being treated like strange creatures is by over- throwing the TPLF regime by all means necessary. TPLF DOES NOT REPRESENT TIGRAYAN PEOPLE ! TIGRAYANS MUST DO MORE TO DISASSOCIATE THEMSELVES FROM THIS FASCIST REGIME AND LEAD THE FIGHT AGAINST IT ! THE WAY TO COUNTER A DIVISIVE REGIME IS BY UNITING AGAINST IT AND BEYOND ! LONG LIVE ETHIOPIA ! DEATH TO TPLF AND ITS AFFILIATES !

Ethiopian scholars are to blame for the suffering of Ethiopian people to this day.

For the past fourty years, since the overthrow of the feudal regime of King Hileselassie I, Ethiopian people have been grossly mismanaged, terrorized, and oppressed by the regimes that followed. The popular uprising, followed by the bloodless revolution that brought down the fourty four year old regime of Emeror Haileselassie was led by Ethiopian scholars, who at the time were students of Haileselassie I university, and who envisioned a better Ethiopia for the people. Soon after the revolution, different political parties emerged to take over the reign of power from the military junta that was ranning the country during the transition. The main popular parties that enjoyed support at the grassroots level at the time, besides the military junta, were EPRP and Meison; both embraced socialist ideologies and identified themselves as communist parties. Also, both EPRP and Meison were made up of scholars, who were fresh out of college or on the verge of graduation. However, the military junta was composed mostly of lower ranking officers with little or no academic background above the highschool level, and who were not quite sure which way to go in terms of identifying themselves with an ideology. The timing of the revolution was in the midst of the cold war between the United States and Soviet Union, and a third world country like Ethiopia could not survive long without garnering support from one of the two super powers that were wages proxy wars instead of facing each other head on. That said, the military junta brought the other parties to the table to discuss the transition of power to the people, although in vain. Before long, EPRP opted out of the negotiation and declared war against the military, while meison pledged to back the military junta in exchange for power sharing to a certain level. That turn of event that was caused by the division among the scholars who were supposed to set aside their power ambitions to bring about change that the people at large desperately wanted was what started the plight of Ethiopian people to this day. From that time to this day, Ethiopian scholars are the ones who do not seem to compromise their differences in order to come together in defence of the people, and who conspire with the ruling party to sabotage the opposition movements that are waged against it. Given that fact, the regimes that ruled Ethiopia for the past fourty years used Ethiopian scholars as a tool to stave off popular apprising in order to hold on to power for as long as they could. The most recent popular uprising, not to mention the largest, was the uprising that followed the 2005 elections. That uprising, brought Ethiopian people together in puruit of freedom at last only to be spoiled by scholars like Dr. Birhanu and Prof. Beyene, who once again conspired with the ruling party and their western backers against their own people. The point is that Ethiopian scholars should examine themselves in terms of their loyalty to their country, and put the people's cause before their own power ambitions. After all, they are the ones better equiped with the knowledge to lead Ethiopia.

Meet Ethiopia's Sarah Palin.

THIS PAST WEDNESDAY, THE LEADER OF UDJ, BIRTUKAN MIDEKSA WAS RELEASED AFTER SPENDING CLOSE TO TWO YEARS IN KALITI PRISON. UPON HER RELEASE, SHE WAS GREETED BY MANY OF HER SUPPORTERS AT THE PRISON GATES AND AT HER NEIGBORHOOD KNOWN AS FERENSAI LEGASION. WE ALSO MUST NOT FORGET THE MANY PEOPLE THAT EXPRESSED THEIR GRATITUDE THROUGH DIFFERENT MEDIA OUTLETS. HOWEVER, ASSUMING THAT THIS SHOW OF SOLIDARITY BY HER SUPPORTERS IS NOT A REHEARSED DRAMA ORGANIZED BY THE LIKES OF DR. NEGASO GIDADA AND SIYE ABRAHA, WHO HELPED STAGE THE SAME KIND OF RECEPTION UPON HER RELEASE IN 2008 ONLY THIS TIME HIM AND HIS FRIENDS COULD NOT COME UP WITH THE MONEY TO BUY HER A " GIFT ", DOES SHE REALLY DESERVE SUCH A WONDERFUL TREATMENT FROM ETHIOPIANS ? LET'S EXAMINE THAT, SHALL WE ? I HOPE IM NOT OFFENDING ANYONE BY RECALLING THE TIME WHEN SHE WAS TPLF APPOINTED SITTING JUDGE AT THE HIGHEST KANGAROO COURT OF THE CURRENT POLITICAL MACHINE IN ARAT KILO PALACE. IT IS THEN THAT SHE RELEASED MR. SIYE ABRAHA BY CITING LACK OF EVIDENT ALTHOUGH IT WAS LATER REVEALED THAT SHE DID SO BY MISTAKE, OR ONE CAN SAY BY NOT QUITE UNDERSTANDING THE RULES HER APPOINTEES HAD SET UP FOR HER TO GUIDE HER DECISIONS WITH. WE ALL KNOW THE MELES REGIME DOES NOT APPOINT ANYONE TO SUCH A POWERFUL POSITION, ALTHOUGH ITS BY NAME ONLY, UNLESS HE OR SHE IS PROVEN TO BE LOYAL TO THE TPLF/EPRDF POLITICAL GUIDELINES. THAT BEING SAID, I DO NOT SEE WHY HER FOLLOWERS IN THE SHABIA ADMINISTERED CURRENT AFFAIRS DISCUSSION ROOM IN PALTALK AND ELSEWHERE REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE MEMBERSHIP OF ALL THOSE " SUPPOSED " EX-TPLF/EPRDF LEADERS AND SELF CENTERED TRAITORS IN HER PARTY ? IS SHE NOT EX-TPLF/EPRDF SERVANT HERSELF ? BESIDES, WE ALL KNOW SHE IS A SINGLE MOTHER WHO BORE A CHILD OUT OF WEDLOCK, A DIRECT VIOLATION OF THE VALUES AND PRINCIPLES ONE CAN NOT EXPECT FROM A SUPPOSED " OPPOSITION LEADER ". WHO VOTED HER TO BE THE LEADER OF ALL THE OPPOSITION CAMPS TO BE ENTITLED " OPPOSITION LEADER ". AS FAR AS I KNOW, SHE IS ONLY A LEADER OF THE CALLED UDJ, A PARTY FORMER AFTER ITS LEADERS AND THEIR FOLLOWERS BROKE RANKS WITH THE LARGEST AND STRONGEST PARTY AEUP, WHOSE MEMBERS AND OFFICES ACCOUNTED FOR THE COALITION FOR UNITY AND DEMOCRACY AKA CUD. A PERSON IN HIS OR HER RIGHT MIND WOULD NOT EVEN CALL THE LEADER OF AEUP, THE LARGEST POLITICAL PARTY IN ETHIOPIA JUST BELOW THE RULING EPRDF, " OPPOSITION LEADER ", A TITLE THAT INDICATES THAT HE OR SHE IS A LEADER ENTRUSTED BY OR REPRESENTING THE MAJORITY OF OPPOSITION PARTIES IN ETHIOPIA. ALSO LET US NOT FORGET THAT BIRTUKAN MIDEKSA JOINED CUD THROUGH THE BACK DOOR WITH HELP FROM DR. BIRHANU NEGA, FOUNDING MEMBER AND CHAIRMAN OF THE THEN KESTEDEMA PARTY. IT IS ALSO WORTH NOTING THAT BIRTUKAN JOINED CUD AFTER THE VOTES WERE CASTED, WHICH GIVES US A REASON TO QUESTION WHETHER SHE VOTED FOR HER FORMER EMPLOYERS OR THE PARTY SHE JOINED UNNOTICED ? DR. BIRHANU PERSONALLY MADE HER HIS PARTY'S NOMINEE TO RUN FOR THE CHAIRMANSHIP OF CUD THAT LEAD TO HER BEING THE VICE CHAIRWOMAN OF THE PARTY. THE REASON WHY DR.BIRHANU RAILROADED HER TO SUCH A LEADERSHIP POSITION UNDER HIS WING IS ANOTHER STORY I WILL DISCUSS AT A LATER TIME. BIRTUKAN CAME TO THE SPOT LIGHT WHEN SHE WAS THROWN IN PRISON IN A MATTER OF WEEKS SINCE SHE BECAME VICE CHAIRWOMAN OF CUD. SHE WENT TO KALITII PRISON ALONG WITH THE ENTIRE CUD LEADERSHIP, MEMBERS, JOURNALISTS, CIVIC ORGANIZATION LEADERS, AND ACTIVISTS AS DID INNOCENT CITIZENS WHO DARED TO STAGE PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATION AGAINST MELES AND HIS MAFIA LIKE ORGANIZATION. FOLLOWING THEIR RELEASE FROM PRISON, THE INTER PARTY FEUD AMONG THE LEADERS CAME TO A COLLISION IN FRONT OF OUR EYES. AS EXPECTED FROM SOMEONE WHO CUD SUPPORTERS AND THE PEOPLE AT LARGE HAD NO ANY KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT SO EVER, BIRTUKAN TOOK THE CENTER STAGE IN WIDENING THE DIVISION THE PARTY MEMBERS AND THEIR SUPPORTERS ALIKE. FIRST OF ALL, AFTER HER RELEASE FROM PRISON, SHE DID NOT EVEN BOTHER TO EXPRESS HER CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILIES OF THOSE WHO LOST THEIR LOVED ONES TO BULLETS FIRED BY AGAZI MILITIA. IN HER FERENSAI LEGASION NEIGHBORHOOD ALONE, FOUR MEN LOST THEIR LIVES WHILE TRYING TO BLOCK SECURITY FORCES WHO WERE ON THEIR WAY TO ARREST BIRTUKAN MIDEKSA. INSTEAD SHE WAS BUSY PREPARING HER VISA TO FLY OUT OF THE COUNTRY EAGER TO SEE WASHINGTON DC AND THE REST OF NORTH AMERICA. AFTER ACCOMPLISHING SUCH A TASK OF DESERTING ETHIOPIAN PEOPLE IN ORDER TO FULFILL HER PERSONAL AMBITION, SHE QUICKLY WENT RIGHT TO DOING HER ASSIGNMENT BY RUTHLESSLY ATTACKING CUD CHAIRMAN ENG. HAILU SHAWEL IN PUBLIC, POLARIZING THE DIASPORA MY ENSIGHTING RACIAL TENSIONS BETWEEN TIGRAYANS AND THEIR FELLOW ETHIOPIANS, AND FINALLY BY TESTIFYING AT THE US CONGRESS THAT THERE ARE " ONLY 100 " POLITICAL PRISIONERS IN ETHIOPIA. WOW ! MELES CAN'T GET A BETTER WITNESS THAN THAT. WAY TO GO OUR LEADER BIRTUKAN. I FEEL DISGUSTED WHEN I SEE PEOPLE CELEBRATING HER AS IF SHE IS THE ONLY FEMALE EVER INVOLVED IN ETHOPIAN POLITICS. SOME OF HER FOLLOWERS WENT EVEN AS FAR AS COMPARING HER TO NELSON MANDELA, KING TEWDROS, BELAY ZELEKE, QUEEN TAITU, THE LIST GOES ON AND ON. I MEAN, COME ON PEOPLE ! OPEN YOUR EYES AND SEE WHO BIRTUKAN MIDEKSA REALLY IS. IN FACT SHE IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO BEING QUALIFIED TO BE A PARTY LEADER, LET ALONE A POLITICAL FIGURE.
